Check more than the pattern

Stone-inspired ceramics range from soft, cloudy patterns to pronounced veins. The pattern does not tell you how the tile performs. Check the technical sheet for properties such as slip resistance.

These collections contain ceramic tiles. Request technical information for the selected model and finish, even when its pattern resembles natural stone.

Decide what you want to stand out

A plain floor leaves more room for patterned fabrics or a distinctive piece of furniture. If the tile has a strong pattern of its own, simpler materials around it can help it stand out.

Compare the pattern at the scale it will be installed. A close-up on screen can look quite different from whole tiles laid across a room. Ask to review additional faces or samples when pattern variation matters to your design.

Check samples in the room’s light

Place samples near the room’s natural light and under the planned artificial lighting. View them from the standing and seated positions you will use. Screen images are useful for a shortlist, but the display, exposure and surrounding colours can change your perception.

Ask for care instructions for the finish you choose, and have the designer check its technical suitability for the intended use.

Keep the model code with the sample

Label each sample with its model code and intended location. Photograph it beside the neighbouring materials for your project record. Include the code in your enquiry so the product can be identified.
